Enviroblog on Cell Phone Dangers...

Enviroblog has a post called Canada, San Francisco blaze forward on cell phone advisories which says...

"Canada joins France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Israel and Finland in officially recommending limiting cell phone radiation exposure to children. Health Canada's recommends that consumers limit the length of their cell phone calls, use "hands-free" devices and text instead of talking."

It is good that steps are being taken to warn about the dangers of cell phone radiation to children.

What's Eating Your Child Changes Lives

I have known many families who struggled with children's ongoing behavior and symptoms for years. Often, the parents know that food is a factor but they don't know where to start and they are only vaguely aware that food is the issue. When they ask the pediatrician about the connection between food and their child's symptoms they get vague answers like "Watch what they eat." But without any real concrete answers it's hard for parents to know which food might be a factor or where to begin.

In the past few months several families I know have finally been able to implement dietary changes and see results thanks to a book by Kelly Dorfman called What's Eating Your Child. Thanks to the comprehensive information in this book one friend was able to make changes and found that her son's "poops are solid, he is less whiny, not so emotional, not as picky with food and best of all, he doesn't get crazy after he eats!" You can read her whole post on her blog Crunchy Apples.

If your child has some troubling behavior or symptoms, check out What's Eating Your Child to understand how food might be an issue. You can read an excerpt HERE. There are also two online interviews with Kelly Dorfman below that also might be helpful to parents who are looking for answers.

Interview with Kelly Dorfman - Part 1
Interview with Kelly Dorfman - Part 2

It's hard to believe but What's Eating Your Child is really changing lives. Thanks to Kelly Dorfman parents are seeing their children get better after years of struggling with symptoms.

Gluten Free Friendly Award to FRAMES BOWLING

I am actually not sure what is gluten free at Frames Bowling but my daughter is going to a birthday party and when I called the manager to ask about what they were serving so we could try to figure out what to bring he was SOOOOOO helpful so I would like to give a gluten free friendly award to FRAMES BOWLING just for being nice and helpful and accommodating.

So often, when I call a place to inquire about what they are serving the restaurant is totally unhelpful and not understanding. So a big thanks to Frames for totally getting it and being helpful. They don't have a gluten free menu but they are a peanut free restaurant--which is nice for kids who are allergic to peanuts.

A big thanks to Frames for being so helpful.

Gluten Free Oat Bran for the Dukan Diet

I was intrigued by the simplicity of 'The Dukan Diet'. Unfortunately, a big part of the Dukan diet is oat bran--the nutritious outer layer of the oat grain--and it seemed almost impossible to find gluten free oat bran. Montana Gluten Free PrOatina Oat Products has an oat bran that is certified gluten free.

I actually don't really believe that diets work but was curious to try this protein and vegetable diet that helped Kate Middleton slim down for her royal wedding. Although the meat only beginning of the diet is quite restrictive after a few days you incorporate vegetables--and eventually, once you have lost weight, you can have a wide diet if you go back to a protein only day once a week.

In general, I find that the diets just cause you to gain weight in the long run--just in case you ever decide to ever go on a diet again, your body wants a little more reserve to protect you from another famine. Still, I was curious to try the Dukan Diet with the oat bran to see if it works.

Some people with celiac have a problem with oats so you have to really monitor your symptoms when trying to incorporate oats in your diet.

The Dangers of Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is very healing plant. But I urge everyone to BUY aloe vera from a health food store like Whole Foods or check with someone if you are going to ingest aloe vera from a plant. Here is information from Aloe Vera Benefits...

"Most species of the Aloe Vera plant are non-toxic but there are about 15 poisonous ones which contain a deadly hemlock-like substance. If you are thinking of growing Aloe Vera at home that’s definitely something worth remembering when choosing your plant!"
